By the end of 1981, Turner was 42 years old, and working slowly but surely toward a comeback. I’m not saying that Ike did it. I don’t think he would have hurt me, but he wanted to get close and scare me”—she’d approached the interview with reluctance. “I called my psychic, and I said, ‘What’s going to happen?’ ” Turner says of that period in Tina, an affecting new documentary from the filmmakers Dan Lindsay and T.J. Martin (Undefeated). It’s 2019, and she’s in the Zürich lake house that she shares with her second husband, Erwin Bach. “I was really apprehensive about giving the story away because it was telling,” she continues. But Turner’s psychic insisted that she plunge ahead. “She said ‘No, Tina, it’s going to do just the opposite. It’s going to break everything wide open.’ ”
