In Alone, they are truly alone, with no camera crew tagging along; each contestant films their own daily and nightly doings, no matter how monotonous and uneventful their days, which most of them are—hunkered down in a human burrow while it rains relentlessly for, at times, weeks with no one to talk to save for the lens of their pocket camera. They’re given a satellite phone should they become severely sick or injured or just decide to tap out and give up. Otherwise, each person really has no idea what is happening in the world outside of theirs.
